BACKGROUND
Evangelist Solomon Yidana is an outstanding gospel singer from northern Ghana. Precisely, he hails from Nalerigu in the North-East Region but is widely known throughout the entire northern Ghana as a result of his highly patronized cover versions of old Mampruli gospel songs.
The crusader of the God’s Word was born into a deep Christian home to Mr. David Adjei Yidana and Martha Suleman.
The Nalerigu indigene speaks Mampruli, his mother tongue. He is the owner of Favour Studios; the melody room where he records and shoots his videos for most of his songs.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Evangelist Yidana Solomon acquired his primary school education at Naa Bongu Primary in Nalerigu and went to Nalerigu L/A Junior High School where he wrote his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and proceeded to Nalerigu Senior High School. Because of his quest to see world change and come to Christ, he undertook an Evangelism course at the Global Theological Seminary which was located at Adenta in 2012 and was ordained that same year as an evangelist after his successful completion.
CHRISTIAN LIFE AND EVANGELISM
Born and nurtured into the Assemblies of God Christian doctrines, Evangelist Solomon Yidana is a staunch Christian who fellowships with the Walewale Assemblies of God where he served in various roles.
According to the Evangelist, while growing up, his faith tilted and conformed to the pleasures of the world, but with prayers and counselling from sympathizers, he bounced back to Christianity.
Realizing that, things of the world were vanity, he attached himself unto his Christian faith and availed himself for God’s divine agenda.
“I am back on my feet and have an unquenchable conviction by making my creator use me a vessel to make impacts”, he said. After completing his evangelism course at Global Theological Seminary, Evangelist Yidana preached and evangelized the sermon in most Assemblies of God churches.
His evangelism endeavor took him to several places outside Northern Ghana and they include Sunyani, Techiman, Goaso, Mim among others.
HIS QUEST TO SEE OLD INDIGENOUS GOSPEL REVIVE
Evangelist Solomon Yidana is a “ringleader” in the advocacy for the promoting the indigenous Northern Ghana gospel music. He is very optimistic to gaining a very large audience for patronage. He revealed that, the local worship songs simply speak to the worshipper in his own dialect as compared to the foreign songs where one may even find it difficult to understand the exact lyrics.
The powerful singer indicated that, when the Assemblies of God Missionaries came to Ghana, they helped in converting the local gospels into hymnals which made it easy for public to understand.
The first black principal of the Assemblies of God Bible School, Rev. P.D Yamusah ensured that these converted hymnals were sung by the training pastors. He added that the lyrics in the old indigenous gospel music are discerning to the inner spirit.
Evangelist Yidana Solomon is a beacon of Northern Ghana Gospel Music who has purposed to beat the odds to bring indigenous gospel music to limelight. He is always filled with immeasurable joy as he had discovered the bear of his music career, to promoter old northern Ghana gospel music.
IMPACT
Evangelist Yidana Solomon’s songs has transformed a smoker who surrendered to worship God after listening to his song. He said he was filled with happiness when he heard this and he became encouraged.
“I love what I do and I can record at least two songs in a day, which makes me a happy person”, he revealed. His songs have repaired marriages which was at the verge of collapsing but when the couple who live in Europe listened to his song, they traced Evangelist Yidana to show appreciation. He has also received a lot of messages on social media describing how his songs have blessed many lives.
It will be totally wrong to count the albums and singles of Evangelist Solomon because he records and releases songs anytime there is a direction from God but he has many songs to his credit. He is the most followed gospel musician from northern Ghana on Facebook.
AMBITIONS/ASPIRATIONS
He is very determined to make his songs get to people in the villages through in audio, which would change their lives and also make them feel proud when they hear songs in their local language.
