It’s so appalling how good northern gospel songs fail to get the needed recognition. Our search through social media handles of some renowned gospel artists from the north revealed how they are even struggling to get 1000 followers on facebook which seems easy to get than on Twitter and YouTube.
Digging the insights of those pages, it was surprising that 60% of many pages’ followers are outside the northern territory. According to the Ghana Statistics Service, the new five regions of Northern Ghana have an estimated population of 6,376,016 people. At least, we should have more than 0.1% (637,601) of this population being Christians.
The question is whether the admins of those pages don’t consistently update their pages or the social media user doesn’t understand the meaning of subscribing, liking, or following a page on social media but this has not been the problem.
The problem is, that many of us are less informed about social media usage.
Many have the belief that subscribing, following, or liking a page on social media consumes data.
Applying any of the above to a page or a channel does not cost at all. It only makes you part of the page’s family so that when content is loaded onto that page, you will have the opportunity to see it.
If what has been uploaded is a video, watching it will then require data.
To the musicians and admins, you shouldn’t get demoralized too by the low rate of social media patronage. Keep being consistent and try to educate all persons whenever you get a platform.
This will help boost your social media handles and give you the needed attention and recognition.
