It is with deeper sadness that we bring you this news. The Dastect Recording Studio (DRS) has been raised down by fire. This sad incident happened around 2pm – 3pm, Sunday 27th November 2022.
The cause of the fire is yet to be identified though it is suspected to be an electrical fault.
According to the studio engineer, Musah Amos, he was working on a project and suddenly, the computers went off, so he thought it was the usual lights out we do experience. Quickly, he switched to his phone and as he was manipulating the phone, a huge loom of fire fell on his console, and he had to vanish out of the studio.
Unfortunately, a single cable was not rescued from the furry of the flames. The fire guttered three soundcards, two Yamaha keyboards, professional studio monitors, a drum set, two desktop computers, more than fire microphones including a condenser microphone, headphones and other valuable studio equipment.
This studio is located in Zebilla, Kukuruzua, closer to the custom barrier inside the CEO’s residence (but his house was not touched by the fire). The studio has produced about 90% of the Kusaal tracks. This studio has produced songs for artiste like Rev. Philip Azumah, Anneiya Zeruah, Seth Praise, Holikeys, Min. Felicia and many more from the kusaug zone.
The CEO David Anneiya is a Radio engineer and a builder of amplifiers and speakers. The workshop for these engineering shares the same building with the studio, and this workshop was not exempted. The fire consumed already build amplifiers, speakers, and even some radio transmitters.
Though the Ghana Fire Services responded, the fire was not controlled in time, the intensity of the fire made it difficult for them to curb the flames.
