Minister Obed Jeremiah Kaaku, is an inspired Spoken Word artist who hails from Yendi in the Northern Region of Ghana. Currently, he worships with Choggu AG Church, Tamale. He works at Tamale Teaching Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
He got inspired to enter into this ministry through his involvement with the Assemblies of God Campus Ministry, UCC Chapter.
Whilst at high school (TAMASCO), he was the AGCM President, and the ‘principal speaker’ of their debate team that took Tamasco and the Northern Region to their maiden national finals.
Having this background of public speaking, writing and also being a lover of God, it was triggering seeing people use spoken word as an avenue to lift the spirit of believers as well communicate the truth of the word of God.
“I went for a PENSA program, whiles standing at the back and observing one spoken word artist ministering, I didn’t know how tears started dropping from my eyes. At the same time I had the conviction I could do same. ” He said.
One day the main spoken word artist that was grooming Min. Obed, Richard Ahiamanyoh, had been scheduled for two programs simultaneously, that was the opportunity that gave him his first platform.
Fast forward to 2018, at Snr. Adatus’ annual worship program, “My Gratitude’18” he had his debut platform in Tamale. He has then ministered in several worship programs; Andy Gospelz Family Worship’19, Family Worship’21, My Gratitude’18, My Gratitude’22, Yadah’21, Min. Aaron’s “God Alone”, Min. Justein’s Living Praise, Koinonia, Fire Generation by Impact Makers AG, GLOF Launch, Baptist Youth Explosion’22, ADONAI’23, Charis Impact-UCC, “I Love You Conference, UCC”, Assemblies of God North-West Regional Easter, Special weekly radio feature at Radio 123, Tamale, among many other worship programs and conferences.
It is undoubtedly true that spoken word hasn’t got so much light in the north, but it’s sure an avenue that God is using to announce himself amongst his people in this end times.
Min. Obed is on a mission to groom young men and women who are also willing to take up Spoken Word as a ministry. He is also working on releasing singles and albums in spoken word in the near future.
